Undecided & Undeclared Students

Undecided major

Take Your Time Deciding What’s Right For You

Not sure which major is right for you? Don’t worry. At Gwynedd Mercy University, about 13 percent of our students began in fall 2024 as undecided or undeclared. That’s why we offer a special University Studies program that includes dedicated academic advising and workshops to help you find the major and career path that is best for you.

The GMercyU Difference

With Gwynedd Mercy University’s strong foundation in the liberal arts and 40+ undergraduate programs, your decision to enroll as an undeclared/undecided major offers you plenty of options. With academic and career coaching, you’ll be able to find the right course of study.

Initially, you’ll begin your GMercyU experience as part of our University Studies program where you will work with our University Studies professionals to:

  • Identify your academic strengths, career goals, and professional interests in order to pinpoint the right major
  • Understand the admissions requirements and prerequisite courses required for specific majors and work toward achieving them
  • Determine the best time to declare a major
  • Take control of your collegiate career so that you’re firmly on the road to future success

So, whether you’re thinking about pursuing a bachelor of science degree or a bachelor of arts degree, you'll find plenty of GMercyU programs – and support – to help you achieve your goals.

I entered as an undecided freshman within the Honors Program. I felt comfortable in the idea knowing that GMercyU was equipped to handle untraditional students such as myself but also was open to allow myself to feel and explore other majors and concentrations until I found my niche on campus.

Undergraduate Minor

Increase the value of your degree by adding an undergraduate minor. GMercyU offers a wide variety of minors so you can choose the one that best meets your personal and professional goals.

Curriculum

Students who are entering the University Studies program take classes toward possible majors of interest in addition to general education requirements that are applicable to a variety of programs. General education requirements include classes from the following subject areas: religion, philosophy, history, English, psychology, mathematics, political science, and art. Your advisor will help you explore all academic course options.
