The Penn Medicine Scholars Program
Secure employment at Penn Medicine, launch your career in respiratory care, and receive up to $30,000 in loan repayment funds!
Through a special partnership, GMercyU Respiratory Care students can apply to the program to reduce the cost of your education while securing employment prior to graduation at Penn Medicine, one of the world's leading academic medical organizations.
The program provides participants up to $30,000 in student loan repayment in exchange for a three-year work commitment, upon graduation, licensure, and beginning full-time employment.
You can leave the program at any time. If you do so before completing your work commitment, you forfeit any further loan repayments made by the health system but are not required to reimburse any payments already made on your behalf.

Who Is Eligible
- Students in GMercyU's accredited AS degree or BHS degree of Respiratory Care
- Be in good academic standing with a GPA of at least 3.0
- Be a United States Citizen, Permanent Resident, or with residency under DACA or TPS programs
- Externs currently employed by Penn Medicine are welcome to apply. All other employees (full-time, part-time, or per diem) are not eligible at this time.
Selection isn’t guaranteed simply by meeting the criteria.
